Where is Hotel Hohe Gaisl located?
Hotel Hohe Gaisl is situated on the Plätzwiese plateau at 2000 m altitude, in the heart of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park. Guests enjoy peace, nature, and an impressive mountain landscape. Thanks to its sunny location, it is the perfect base for hiking in summer and for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter.

How do I reach Hotel Hohe Gaisl?
Hotel Hohe Gaisl is located on the Prato Piazza and can be reached by car all year round.
By car: For the first arrival, your booking confirmation is sufficient. Afterwards we provide a permit for further access. In winter, winter equipment is mandatory, and from Brückele onwards snow chains are required.
By shuttle or bus: In winter, public line shuttles run to the Prato Piazza. In summer, public buses operate.

Does the hotel have a spa?

Yes, Hohe Gaisl offers a wellness area with various saunas, a steam bath, and an indoor pool with relaxation lawn – ideal for unwinding after an active day in the mountains.

Is spa access included?
Yes, use of pool, saunas, and relaxation area is included in the room rate.

Can children use the spa?

Children may use the indoor pool. The saunas are reserved for adults.

Until when can I cancel free of charge?
Cancellation conditions depend on the rate and season. As a rule, direct bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 14 days before arrival; deposits already paid are retained. Families are advised to take out travel cancellation insurance.

Is parking free at the hotel?
Yes, free parking is available directly at the hotel.

What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in from 2:00 pm, check-out by 10:00 am.

Are pets allowed at Hohe Gaisl?
No, unfortunately dogs and other pets are not allowed at Hotel Hohe Gaisl.

What does the 3/4 board include?
Our popular 3/4 board includes the breakfast buffet, the traditional South Tyrolean afternoon snack, and dinner.

Is dinner available if I only book with breakfast?
Yes. With room + breakfast, you can flexibly add the afternoon snack and/or dinner. With half board, dinner is already included — you can add the afternoon snack separately.

Is there a breakfast buffet?
Yes, in the morning a rich buffet with regional products awaits you: fresh bread, homemade cakes, South Tyrolean cheeses and cold cuts, fruit, muesli, and more.

What is the afternoon “Marende”?
In the afternoon we serve a traditional South Tyrolean snack buffet with drinks, salads, soups, snacks, and sweets – ideal after a mountain tour or a winter day. This snack is only included with 3/4 board.

What is served at dinner?
Dinner offers a mix of South Tyrolean and Mediterranean cuisine. Start with the buffet of antipasti and salads, followed by a daily changing multi-course menu. To finish, a buffet with fresh fruit and homemade desserts awaits you.

Are drinks included in the price?
No, drinks are not included and are charged separately.

Are vegan, gluten-free, or lactose-free dishes available?
Yes, on request we also prepare vegan, gluten-free, or lactose-free meals. Please let us know when booking or on arrival. A supplement may apply.

The Plätzwiese plateau itself is a highlight: wide alpine meadows, impressive mountain scenery, and numerous hiking trails starting right at the hotel.


Winter & Ski

Are there winter sports possibilities directly at the hotel?
Yes, cross-country ski trails and winter hiking paths start right outside the hotel.

Which ski areas are nearby?
By car you can reach:
Braies ski lifts: approx. 20 minutes
Kronplatz (Olang): approx. 40 minutes
Haunold (San Candido): approx. 35 minutes
Helm (Versciaco): approx. 40 minutes

Can you go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing?

Yes, in winter the Plätzwiese is a paradise for cross-country skiers and snowshoers. You can access the trails directly from the hotel.
